A Senior Lecturer at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Physical and Earth Sciences, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr Josephat Izunobi, FICCON, has been appointed as a National Representative of the Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry Division (Division III) of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).
This appointment is for a two-year renewable term commencing in 2026.
IUPAC, founded in 1919, is the world authority on digital standards in chemistry, chemical nomenclature and terminology including the naming of new elements in the periodic table as well as on atomic weights and standardized methods for measurement.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, on behalf of the staff and students of the University, congratulates Dr Josephat Izunobi, FICCON, on his appointment and wishes him success in his assignment.
