The Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, FAS, has, for the umpteenth time, buttressed the need for value re-orientation and cultural renaissance.
This, according to her, becomes imperative in view of the need to preserve and promote the richness, uniqueness and originality of the African indigenous culture.
Speaking in her office on Thursday, February 23, 2023, Prof. Ogunsola gave thumbs up to successive generations of Nigerian youths for changing the narratives about Africa and her rich culture through their innovative breakthroughs, creativity, thoughtfulness, sense of industry and resolute spirit.
This formed the core of her remarks during discussions with members of the Kegites Club International, University of Lagos Branch who paid her a courtesy visit.

Professor Ogunsola was particularly elated to associate with the Kegites Club describing it as a socio-cultural group with huge potentials for value renaissance.
Prof Ogunsola said her initial contact with the Kegites Club dates back to her days as a student at the University of Ife, memories she said were dotted with gyrations and social interactions.
She challenged the Kegite members in UNILAG on the need to channel their energies towards preserving and promoting the true African story. She also solicited their support in reinventing and institutionalizing a more vibrant social-cultural wheel which would make the University of Lagos a force to reckon with in terms of culture, values and arts.
The visit by members of the Kegites Club International was to congratulate the Vice-Chancellor on her appointment and assumption of office, inform her of her position and role as the Matron of the Kegites Club in UNILAG as well as seal a date for her induction.
Led by their Chief, Temilade Aremu, a 400 Level student of the Linguistics Department and a representative of the Kegites Council, Ololade Kolejo, the Kegite members also used the opportunity to share some of their ideals with the Vice-Chancellor as well as assure her of their goodwill, cooperation and support in all areas of prospective collaboration.
The Kegites Club formerly known as Palm Wine Drinkers Association is a socio-cultural group in Nigeria, it was founded in 1962 at the University of Ife now known as Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State and the university has served as its headquarters till date.
