The Department of Cell Biology and Genetics, University of Lagos (UNILAG) has successfully concluded its highly anticipated 3-day workshop on Basic DNA and Molecular Biology.
Held from Monday, March 24, to Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the prestigious Dr. D. K. Olukoya Central Research and Reference Laboratories, UNILAG, the training programme delivered immersive, hands-on training for postgraduate students pursuing advanced degrees in Cell Biology and Genetics. Highlights of the workshop included training on pipetting skills, genomic DNA isolation, PCR methods, and cutting-edge nucleic acid amplification techniques.

At the closing ceremony on Wednesday, March 26, the Head of the Department, Prof. L. Ogunkanmi, expressed immense pride in the workshop’s achievements. He extended heartfelt gratitude to the enthusiastic participants for their dedication and professionalism, urging them to apply their newly acquired skills in laboratory settings.
Prof. Ogunkanmi also lauded the University’s unwavering support and commended the exceptional facilitators and technical staff who made the workshop a huge success.
Participants were thrilled that the workshop made good on its promise of practical sessions covering DNA extraction, integrity analysis, and animal handling techniques as well as personalized training from renowned experts such as Prof. K. Njoku, Dr. O. Iroanya, Dr. A. Oloyede, Dr. O. Adebesin, Dr. O. Amusa, Dr. U. Abazuh, Dr. T. Fakorede and Dr. Otu.



The workshop culminated in the award of certificates and a lively group photo session, leaving attendees inspired and equipped with critical molecular biology expertise to propel their academic and professional journeys forward.
