Three brilliant minds from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Sanyaolu Motunrayo and Isokpunwu Orobosa of the Department of Electrical Electronics Engineering, as well as Abanum Oliseyenum of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, have advanced to the finals of The Nigerian Genius: Campus Edition 2025. This has earned the trio the honour of representing UNILAG at one of Nigeria’s most prestigious engineering competitions.
The team was able to set themselves apart after submitting a compelling video presentation that showcased their diverse skillsets and practical experience. In the video, they highlighted expertise in Embedded Systems, Internet of Things (IoT), Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM), emphasising their readiness to tackle real-world engineering challenges.
Organised by Clintonel Innovation Centre, The Nigerian Genius: Campus Edition is a national engineering contest designed to spotlight Nigeria’s brightest engineering students. This year’s finals, which will span a full week, is holding at the Advanced Engineering Centre (AEC) in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria.
Participants are expected to work collaboratively to solve real engineering problems by drawing on skills in CAD, CAM, Embedded Systems, PCB Design, Welding, Fabrication, etc. Importantly, the competition champions diversity by strongly encouraging female participation.
The UNILAG team stands among the few selected from across the country, and their inclusion in the finals not only highlights their individual brilliance but also reflects the University’s growing strength in engineering education and innovation.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, on behalf of the entire University of Lagos community, heartily congratulates the trio: Sanyaolu Motunrayo, Isokpunwu Orobosa, and Abanum Oliseyenum, on their achievement and wishes them success in the finals.
Great Akokites!
Be great indeed and make us proud!
