The Tafawa-Balewa Drive, through the Alvan Ikoku Way, at the University of Lagos will wear a new look before the end of December 2021.
Assurance in this regard was given on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, by the representative of the Federal Ministry of Works while formally handing over the project site to Engineer Adewale Akin-Osho whose company, Messrs Lion Unisco Ltd, was awarded the contract to rehabilitate the road.
Speaking at the project site, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe FAS lauded the Federal Ministry of Works for the response to the University’s request on the road.
He charged the contractor to ensure proper execution and timely delivery of the road project.
It would be recalled that the Federal Government had, earlier in the year, awarded the contract for the rehabilitation of internal roads in the University of Lagos.
According to a letter from the Ministerial Tenders Board meeting, the contract which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Works, costs the sum of N182, 265, 941.18(One hundred and eighty-two million, two hundred and sixty-five thousand, nine hundred and forty-one-naira, eighteen kobo).
It has a completion period of eight (8) weeks.
The Tafawa-Balewa Drive at the University of Lagos begins from the Ecobank roundabout, leading through the Mass Communication Department, Moremi Female Hostel, Jaja Boys Hostel and down to the University of Lagos Staff School to link the Alvan Ikoku Way.
