Fulbright Alumni Association, Lagos Chapter Receives Cultural Affairs Officer, U.S. Embassy

Members of the Fulbright Alumni Association, Lagos Chapter, received R. Madison Conoley, the First Secretary of the Embassy of the United States of America and Cultural Affairs Officer of the Embassy, Abuja, on Monday, September 27, 2021 at the Natural History Museum, University of Lagos (UNILAG). He was accompanied by Clemson Ayegbusi, Education and Cultural Affairs Specialist, Public Affairs Section, U.S. Consulate General.

Madison Conoley was happy to meet the Fulbright Alumni

The First Secretary visited for a lunch meeting with the Fulbright alumni to learn more about them and their works. They also had discussions on drug use/abuse, sexual harassment and policies adopted in tertiary institutions. He commended the University of Lagos for its sexual harassment policy and advised that more proactive measures, such as regular trainings and assessment for faculty members, are taken to stem the occurrences of sexual harassment in all gender and to ensure strict compliance with its sexual harassment policy.

The Fulbright Scholarships are one of the popular Cultural Exchange Programs by the United States aimed at cultural diplomacy and enhancement of intercultural relations. Fulbright alumni are present in over 165 countries. They are global change-makers in politics, business, science, education, and the arts.

  9. Dr. Abel Idowu, Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Biotechnology
