The University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Monday, October 12, 2026, commenced its 6th International Week with a series of Faculty Global Engagement Fora held simultaneously across the University.
The fora brought together academics, students, industry professionals, and other stakeholders from within and outside Nigeria to explore emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the future of higher education.
Anchored on the overarching theme, “Re-imagining Pedagogy and Teaching for Higher Education in the 21st Century,” the engagements provided platforms for critical conversations on teaching and learning in an increasingly digital, interconnected and technology-driven world.
Held in both physical and virtual formats, the sessions reflected UNILAG’s commitment to fostering global engagement and strengthening collaboration between academia and industry. Discussions across the participating faculties addressed innovative teaching practices, learner-centred approaches, digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), experiential learning and the need to align university education with the demands of a rapidly evolving global landscape.
From calls for more inclusive, practical and participatory teaching methods to discussions on the responsible integration of AI and stronger university-industry partnerships, the deliberations highlighted the importance of creating impactful learning experiences that equip graduates with the knowledge, skills and adaptability required to thrive in the 21st century.
