They are:
• Folasade Akinbowale (Department of Finance)
• Timileyin Idowu (Department of Economics)
• Ataranshe Oluwaseyi (Department of Accounting)
• John Oyadougha (Department of Finance)
• Nkechi Okochi (Department of Accounting)

On Friday, January 31, 2020, the above students, led by Dr. Peter Amah, a Lecturer at the Department of Finance, UNILAG, participated in the 2019/2020 edition of the CFA Institute Annual Research Challenge with 11 other schools and emerged victorious. The competition was entered by 24 schools, out of which 12 made it to the national finals, with Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and University of Ibadan (UI) coming second (2nd) and third (3rd) place respectively.

Winning the first (1st) place cup will afford our dear Team UNILAG the opportunity of representing Nigeria at the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) Regionals in Dead Sea, Jordan, together with Team OAU.

The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis and professional ethics. Participating students were tested on their analytical, valuation, report writing, and presentation skills. In the course of participating in this challenge, they gained real-world experience as they assumed the role of research analysts. It was based on their performances and the reports they submitted that 12 out of the 24 universities advanced to the National finals in Lagos, where they presented their reports to a panel of judges.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin, T. Ogundipe, FAS, congratulates Folasade Akinbowale, Timileyin Idowu, Ataranshe Oluwaseyi, John Oyadougha and Nkechi Okochi for their achievements and congratulates the University for winning the Research Challenge for the second time in a row. He wishes Team UNILAG and Team OAU success at the EMEA Regionals in Jordan. Prof. Ogundipe also congratulates the organisers, CFA Society Nigeria, and the official sponsor, Zenith Bank PLC for the success of the event and appreciates them for contributing their quota into empowering the future leaders of our dear country Nigeria.
