The Mr and Miss UNILAG Pageantry Contest for the 2023/2024 Academic Session of the University of Lagos held with all its usual colours and glamour on Friday, July 5, 2024.
The Indoor Arena of the UNILAG Sports Centre was a beehive of pop activities for several hours, a mood that lasted until late hours of the day.
Highpoint of the event was the crowning of Michael Adekola, a 400 level Chemistry student as the new Mr. UNILAG and Haneefah Sanda, a 200 level Mass Communication student as Miss UNILAG.
The duo won the nod of the judges from a pool of over 30 contestants to clinch their crowns.
A 200-level student of the Department of Linguistics, African and Asian Studies, Jesutoni Olagunju, emerged as the 1st runner up while Genevive Akwuobi (200 level student of Science and Technology) emerged as the 2nd runner up in the Miss UNILAG category. This is just as James Aderiye (300 level Chemistry Education) and Peter Onyekachukwu (200 level Adult Education) emerged as the 1st and 2nd runners up in the Mr. UNILAG category respectively.
The event saw all contestants giving a good account of themselves in a choreography performance. They also graced the stage in their Urban-Corporate, Sports and Traditional attires to wow the cheering crowd of fans and admirers as well as the panel of judges.
The Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS and the Dean, Students’ Affairs, Professor Musa Obalola were both on ground to identify with and cheer all the Mr and Miss UNILAG contestants on.
The event also featured musical performances by different artistes.
