Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, has inaugurated the UNILAG Global Engagement Committee, as part of efforts to expand the University’s visibility, engagement and collaboration at the global level.
The brief Inauguration Ceremony which was held on Friday, July 5, 2024 at the Senate Chamber, Senate House UNILAG, Akoka, was witnessed by principal officers of the University including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Prof. Ayo Atsenuwa; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics & Research), Prof. Bola Oboh; Bursar, Mrs. Olufunmilola Adekunle; University Librarian; Professor Yetunde Zaid and Director of Quality Assurance & Servicom, Prof. Femi Saibu.
In her remarks during the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor urged the UNILAG Engagement Representatives to remain worthy ambassadors of the University. She implored them to leverage on their collective strength to secure UNILAG’s position as a leading global player in higher education.


The Global Engagement Committee consists of representatives from various faculties and relevant Units in the university. The Chairman is the Director of International Relations, Partnerships and Prospects (IRPP), UNILAG, Professor Ismail Ibraheem while the Co-Chairman is Professor Bunmi Orenuga who is the Global Engagement Lead for College of Medicine (CMUL/Idi-Araba). The Committee’ secretary is Mrs Modupe Williams (IRPP Office) while other members are:

The committee, which is expected to serve as a dedicated team to drive the University’s internationalisation agenda, has the following terms of reference:
- To develop strategies for global engagement and international mobility;
- To identify opportunities for partnerships, collaborations and alliances with global stakeholders;
- To conduct a comprehensive review of global academic trends and best practices in curriculum development across disciplines, with a focus on identifying knowledge sharing innovative methodologies to enhance academic programs and publishing in Unilag:
- To promote internationalization within faculties;
- To serve as liaison between the Office of the International Relations, Partnerships and Prospects and faculties;
- To monitor global trends and developments that might impact our university and advise on ways of adapting our strategies accordingly;
- To contribute ideas and suggestions to help move our global initiatives forward.
