Prof Ogunsola Acknowledges Junior Staff as Pivotal to University Operations

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, has acknowledged the inputs and efforts of all junior staff members of the University, describing it as pivotal to the smooth running of varsity’s operations and FUTURE-READY bid.

She stated this on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the town hall meeting/interactive session junior staff members of the University which was held at the J.F. Ade Ajayi (Main) Auditorium of UNILAG, Akoka.
Professor Ogunsola, on behalf of the University Senate and Management, appreciated the junior staff members across all categories, for their diligence, commitment to duty and loyalty to the University despite daunting challenges.

The interactive session, according to the Vice-Chancellor, became imperative in view of the need to specially acknowledge and celebrate all UNILAG junior staff members, discuss specific challenges first hand as well as share ideas for a better future for all.

Prof. Ogunsola bore her mind on life after public service especially for the junior staff members. One, which she said, could be challenging and requires preparations.

She encouraged junior staff members to explore opportunities at the Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Centre of the University, to acquire skills and vocations which will, in turn, enable them birth means of revenue generation which will not clash with their current services to the university.

The Vice-Chancellor used the opportunity to assure the generality of staff members of management’s commitment to capacity building, staff welfare and career growth.

She also harped on the need for energy conservation, with a view cutting down on the surging cost of electricity especially for campus residents.

Remarks, comments and posers from the junior staff members in attendance revolved around appreciation to the University Management for the feats recorded in 2024 especially the electronic/solar powered vehicles which are already in use on campus; the ongoing hostel renovation and other critical developments.

While giving assurances of their goodwill, institutional loyalty and support, the staff members solicited management’s attention in meeting salient welfare needs, requests which Prof Folasade Ogunsola said would be looked into within the ambits of the University laws and regulations.
