Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, on Monday, December 23, 2024, reassured of management’s commitment towards ensuring full digitization of processes in the university.

She made this known while addressing senior staff members (Academics and Non-Teaching) who converged for a town hall meeting at the J.F. Ade Ajayi (Main) Auditorium of UNILAG, Akoka.

Professor Ogunsola, on behalf of the University Senate and management, appreciated the senior staff members for their support, commitment, diligence and loyalty to the university and her Future-Ready Agenda despite the daunting challenges.

She described the digitization/automation agenda as part of salient moves to which would aid the actualization of a 21st Century UNILAG with seamless, time saving and cost effective processes.

The Vice-Chancellor spoke on a wide range of issues which all centered on staff welfare, security as well as developmental strides in UNILAG.  She announced ongoing efforts towards ensuring the payment of arrears of 25%/35% salary increment, promotion arrears and other benefits to deserving staff members as well as series of engagements towards developing additional housing units for staff members.

Prof. Ogunsola highlighted milestones of the outgoing year to include; successful hosting of the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) Games (which saw UNILAG finishing 3rd on the medals table), the Nigeria Medical Students Association (NIMSA) Games 2024, the recently commissioned electronic/solar powered vehicles for use on campus, unveiling of the newly refurbished UNILAG Logo at the University’s main gate, ongoing renovation of student hostels, official groundbreaking for the ASR-BUA Biological Laboratory Complex, official ground-breaking ceremony of the UNILAG Unipod (an artificial intelligence (AI)-themed facility which will serve as a hub for the hatchery of creativity and innovation among students.

She particularly implored the senior staff members to gird their loins especially in proffering solutions to challenges and providing leadership which would aid the actualization of the future-ready agenda.

Speaking on the mood of the Christmas season, the Vice-Chancellor harped on the need for kindness and generosity towards one another as a way of lightening burdens and elevating each other’s spirit.

Remarks, comments and posers from the staff members in attendance all revolved around appreciation to the university management for the feats recorded during the outgoing year, staff welfare, infrastructural development as well as assurances of goodwill, institutional loyalty and support in the coming year.
