The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, has reiterated the importance of the continuous pursuit of knowledge at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), as “the pursuit of knowledge is the pursuit of truth”.
She reiterated this recently at the unveiling of the UNILAG School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) logo. Prof. Ogunsola noted that the University is not about the students, but about the staff as it is a place “where you think, and make thinkers of people. The students are the recipients of the knowledge.”

The Vice-Chancellor explained that if members of staff do not feed themselves on knowledge, they would be unable to pass on adequate, requisite knowledge to the students.
She encouraged academics to look at the problems around, find ways of solving them, as well as seek ways to develop new knowledge and bring up mentees. She urged them to treat students well, no matter who them are and build a better future for themselves.
While pledging the University’s support to the PG School, Prof. Ogunsola charged academics to embrace multidisciplinarity as disciplines are gradually morphing and merging in order to create solutions to problems bedevilling the country and the world.

The Dean, UNILAG SPGS, Prof. Abraham Osinubi who excitedly received the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, revealed that the Vice-Chancellor was one of the persons that influenced his decision to join the academia, following a seminar the Vice-Chancellor had delivered at Teracotta. The Professor of Anatomy also shared fond memories of the gift of a skeleton which she had presented to him upon his promotion to Associate Professor, and her recommendation for a training which made him an academic leader in business learning.
In the vote of thanks, the Deputy Dean, Dr. Adegboyega Ehimowo applauded the Vice-Chancellor for her penchant for trainings, mentorship and professionalisation. He joined the entire staff of SPGS, including the Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Yetunde Ogunlewe to wish the Vice-Chancellor a fruitful tenure of office.
