Activities marking the 54th Convocation Ceremonies of the University of Lagos climaxed on Sunday, January 21, 2024, with a special Thanksgiving Service held at the Chapel of Christ our Light on the UNILAG Campus.
The Thanksgiving Service was graced by the entire University Management team led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS and other staff of the university.



They all took time to sing songs of praise and dance to God for the successful completion of the 54th Convocation Ceremonies as well as for peace, stability and continued development which UNILAG has continued to enjoy over the decades.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, in her brief remarks, thanked God for a successful outing all through the Convocation Ceremonies. She was also thankful to the entire congregation, every member of staff, students and all stakeholders for identifying with and standing solidly behind the University all through the ceremonies.






Prof. Ogunsola described the overwhelming support enjoyed all through the ceremonies as a major factor which culminated in the success.
The Chaplain, Chapel of Christ our Light, Rev. Azuka Ogbolumani prayed for the university and its management all led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola who was flanked by her husband, Mr Olusegun Ogunsola, FCA.
The homily for the service titled “Secrets for a Successful Christian Life” was delivered by Professor Rev. Yemisi Obashoro, who harped on the need for the congregation to always lean on God as their guide and ever-present help in times of need.



While congratulating the entire management, staff and students of UNILAG on the success of the 54th Convocation Ceremonies, the Clergy charged the whole congregation to remain committed to the continued growth and development of UNILAG.
It would be recalled that activities marking the 54th Convocation Ceremonies of the University of Lagos commenced on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, with a Pre-Convocation Press Conference addressed by the Vice-Chancellor. This was followed by a Convocation Ceremonies Special Jumaat Service which was held at the UNILAG Central Mosque on Friday, January 12, 2024.





The Convocation Lecture titled: Decolonizing African Higher Education for Transformational Development was delivered by Professor of History at the University of Texas, Austin, U.S.A, Professor Toyin Falola on Monday, January 15, 2024 while the Congregation for the Award of First Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates and Prizes to Graduating students as well as and Conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees held between Tuesday, January 16 and Thursday, January 18, 2024.
Friday, January 19, 2024 was dedicated to the Presentation of Long Service Awards to deserving staff members of the University.
