UNILAG will Prioritize Professionalizing Non-Teaching Staff – VC

The University Management will work assiduously towards ensuring the professionalization of non-teaching staff in the university, to further drive efficiency and ensure career fulfilment among the workforce.

This was made known on Thursday, November 24, 2022 when the leadership of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) paid a courtesy visit to the 11th Floor Senate House Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, FAS.

The courtesy visit was an opportunity for the Nigerian Institute of Management in the South-West to identify with and celebrate Professor Folasade Ogunsola, FAS, as she assumed duty as the 13th and 1st female Vice-Chancellor of the University.

The NIM delegates across the South-West zone, led by its Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Ebun Atinuke, FNIM, included the Institute’s Fellows such as Dr. Taiwo F. Ipaye, the branch Chairman & council members. They were in UNILAG for their quarterly meeting – the last for the year 2022.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Management Services, Professor Lucian Obinna Chukwu, who received them on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, commended NIM for sustaining its agelong tradition of growing competencies in Management Practice, which UNILAG has benefitted from.

While reiterating the University’s commitment to the exploration of every opportunity towards transforming UNILAG into a 21st Century university, Prof. Chukwu also emphasised the varsity’s readiness to expose students to various leadership and management trainings for certification purposes, as well as to make them fit and ready for post-graduation tasks.

In his remarks, the NIM Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Atinuke, pointed out that the Institute has enjoyed a long-standing and cordial relationship with successive managements of UNILAG, one which has impacted positively on the fortunes of members over the decades.

The NIM boss, on behalf of its local chapter, expressed gratitude to UNILAG management for the support of its members through sponsorships to Annual Management Conferences, recognition of NIM certificates for appointments and promotions, as well as provision of an edifice as secretariat as well as approves venues for NIM meetings on campus among others.

While assuring the entire UNILAG Management team of the NIM’s goodwill and professional support as, Alhaji Atinuke solicited the help of the university in ensuring the actualization of the NIM Continuing Learning and Development (CLAD) and Mandatory Continuing Professional Education Programmes (MCPEP) among its UNILAG members.

The Institute also requested the introduction of a Students’ Scheme with a view to ensuring NIM certification among undergraduate students.
