UNILAG will always contribute to knowledge economy in Nigeria – VC

Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, FAS, says UNILAG will always be home to intellectual discourse which would propel researches and engender national growth and development.

This was made known on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, during a courtesy visit to the Senate House office of the Vice-Chancellor by the National leadership of the Association of Environmental Impact Assessment of Nigeria (AEIAN) led by its President, Mr. Ahmed Sanda.

The Association of Environmental Impact Assessment of Nigeria (AEIAN) is in UNILAG for its 6th Annual General Meeting and Conference which holds between Wednesday, November 23 and Thursday, November 24, 2022.

The Vice-Chancellor who was represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Management Services, Professor Lucian Obinna-Chukwu described academic conferences, research fairs, public lectures and exhibitions as part of activities which distinguishes universities as citadels for knowledge creation and curation.

Prof. Chukwu emphasized the place of UNILAG students as the centrepiece of any intellectual convergence, a feat, he said signals a resurgence of a vibrant academic community.

According to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, UNILAG boasts of a Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards Enhancement Centre of Excellence (UNILAG SPESSCE) among several other reputable research centres, one which he said, seals the place of the university as a leading light in research efforts for standards in Procurement, Environmental Safety and other related issues.

While wishing the Association success at its conference, Prof. Chukwu expressed hopes that the conference will yield fruitful ideas and innovations as well as propel viable intellectual discourse thereby promoting national growth and development.

Earlier in his remarks, the National President, Association of Environmental Impact Assessment of Nigeria (AEIAN), Mr. Ahmed Sanda appreciated the University of Lagos for its commitment to excellence.

Flanked by other executives of the association, Mr. Sanda assured of the association’s readiness to partner with UNILAG in areas relevant to the association’s goals and objectives.
