The University of Lagos Management, on Monday, March 24, 2025, played host to the French Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Marc Fonbaustier.
The French Diplomat was received by the Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS , along with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics and Research, Professor Bola Oboh and Dean, Faculty of Arts, Professor Mudashir Ilupeju.


The visit was part of efforts towards strengthening bilateral relations between the French Embassy in Nigeria and the University of Lagos, particularly in the areas of education, research, and cultural exchange.
As part of the visit, Ambassador Fonbaustier and his team toured various sections of the University including the Fabrication Laboratory UNILAG FabLab), a facility donated to UNILAG by the Embassy of France in 2020.
At the FabLab, the French Ambassador was visibly elated over the quality of the different innovative projects displayed by the students as well as optimization of the facility.






As a token of encouragement to the students, Ambassador Fonbaustier re-emphasized the French Embassy’s commitment towards continued support for the Fabrication Laboratory (FAB-LAB) with a view to deepening its partnership with UNILAG.
The team also visited the UNILAG Solid Waste Recycling Plant where they were informed about various waste-to-wealth and recycling initiatives being pursued by UNILAG to ensure a clean, safe and waste free environment.



In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola appreciated the Ambassador for his visit and reaffirmed the UNILAG’s commitment to international collaborations that would enhance academic excellence and research output.
While pointing out the University’s long-standing productive relationship with French institutions, Professor Ogunsola welcomed further engagement in areas of science, technology, and the humanities.
