UNILAG Student Affairs Division Collaborates with Lagos Branch of Nigeria Association of the Blind

In a significant step towards ramping up support for visually impaired students at the University of Lagos, Dean of the Student Affairs Division (DSA), Professor Musa Obalola, has met with the leadership of the Lagos Branch of Nigeria Association of the Blind.

The meeting took place at the office of the Dean of Student Affairs and had in attendance, the Chairman of the Lagos Branch of the Nigeria Association of the Blind, Mr. Lukeman Abolarinwa Salami, and other key members of the association.

The primary objective of the meeting was to unveil the Student Affairs Division’s comprehensive welfare programme tailored for blind and partially sighted students. The initiative seeks to establish and maintain a robust partnership with the Nigeria Association of the Blind, underscoring the University’s commitment to the well-being of visually impaired students.

During the meeting, Professor Obalola shed light on UNILAG’s efforts to ensure that the right to tertiary education for qualified visually impaired individuals is protected and readily accessible. He emphasized that the collaborative efforts between the two bodies are geared towards encouraging visually impaired students to excel in their studies, reassuring them that their well-being is a top priority for the University.
