UNILAG Staff School Unveils 60th Anniversary Logo, Inaugurates Celebration Committee & Commissions CCTV Facility

Authorities of the University of Lagos Staff School (ULSS) have unveiled the school’s 60th Anniversary Logo, marking the commencement of activities to celebrate its diamond jubilee anniversary.

Performed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services) of the University, Professor Olumuyiwa Falaiye, the unveiling ceremony which was held on Thursday, January 15 2026 also featured the inauguration of the 60th Anniversary Planning Committee and commissioning of the newly installed Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system within the school premises.

In his remarks, Professor Falaiye underscored the significance of the 60th anniversary. He described the event as an important milestone worthy of broad and inclusive celebration especially as former pupils of the school have evolved into outstanding professionals making significant contributions in their respective fields.

According to him, the anniversary presents a unique opportunity for the school to re-connect with past pupils and celebrate its legacy of excellence.

While commending the school’s staff for their unwavering dedication, professionalism, and commitment to nurturing young minds, Professor Falaiye stressed the need for continued excellence in all areas.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of ULSS Board of Governors and Dean Faculty of Education, Professor Simeon Adebayo Oladipo, expressed delight at the remarkable strides being recorded by students and staff of the school.

He used the occasion to assure stakeholders that “deliberate efforts are being put in place by the Board to ensure that the institution continues to serve as a cradle for the holistic development of young minds, in line with its founding vision and values”.

Earlier in her address, the Headmistress, Mrs. Eunice Akinade, provided a historical overview of the school, tracing its growth and achievements over the past six decades.

She expressed profound appreciation to the University Management for its consistent support and for prioritising the safety and development of the pupils, particularly through initiatives such as the installation of the CCTV facilities.

The highlight of the event was the inauguration of the 20-member Anniversary Planning Committee, which was formally charged with the responsibility of planning and delivering a well-organised, memorable, and impactful 60th anniversary celebration.

At the end of the ceremony, Professor Falaiye took a tour of the school facilities, along with members of the ULSS Board of Governors, members of the newly inaugurated planning committee, school management team, staff, and other invited guests.
