The University of Lagos Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards Enhancement (UNILAG-SPESSCE) on Friday, December 29, 2023, donated four (4) brand new motorcycles to the University.
The gesture, according to the Director, UNILAG-SPESSCE, Professor James Akanmu, is an expression of the centre’s commitment towards enhancing the security architecture on and around campus.
Prof. Akanmu said “as part of the campus community, UNILAG-SPESSCE owes it a duty to contribute its quota towards the safety of lives and properties on and around campus, hence the donation of 4 motorcycles”.

While taking delivery of the motorcycles, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, appreciated the Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards Enhancement and described the gesture as one which would go a long way in improving security surveillance on campus.
She used the occasion to applaud all members of staff of the Security Unit for their commitment towards promoting safety, sanity and orderliness on campus despite peculiar challenges.
Prof. Ogunsola said the donation marks another significant milestone as the university ends the year 2023 on a high note. She said the new motorcycles will be deployed to dispatch as well as security services on and around campus.

In his reaction, the Chief Security Officer of the University, Mr. Sunday Alao described the donation of the 4 motorcycles as a timely intervention especially when viewed against the backdrop of the festive season, the existing surveillance vehicles which are already aging and the big events ahead of the university in the year 2024 which would require increased security monitoring.
The visibly elated C.S.O. assured that the motorbikes will be used effectively and its attendant results would be visible to every member of the campus community.
