The newly appointed Coordinator of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Security Unit, Mr. David Omotosho, was the guest of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Jimoh Moshood on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
The courtesy visit to the Police Headquarter, old GRA, Ikeja, Lagos kicked off Mr. Omotosho’s familiarization visits to various security agencies in Lagos State. The goal of the familiarization visits is to foster strong working relationship towards the boosting security and safety of lives and property in the three campuses of the University and their environs.
In his remarks, the UNILAG Security Coordinator re-affirmed the commitment of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, to efforts aimed at ensuring maximum safety of lives and properties across all the university campuses.
During discussions, Mr. Omotosho specifically requested for increased security presence and patrol along the UNILAG water front as well as additional Marine Police Officers at the Marine Police Post situated on the water front.
He also appealed for an extra complaint centre for UNILAG, with a view to facilitating timely and hitch free handling of sensitive cases from the University community.


In his response, CP Jimoh Moshood congratulated Mr. David Omotosho on his appointment as the Coordinator of UNILAG Security Unit, and assured him of a smooth working relationship.
As a token of goodwill towards UNILAG, CP Moshood directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Lagos, to immediately open a front desk exclusively for UNILAG and also ensure timely response to all requests from the university.


The police boss reiterated the command’s commitment to providing effective policing across Lagos State, UNILAG inclusive.
