Management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) says the focus of its Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Business Incubation Certification (EIBIC) Programme is to raise a generation of viable business owners, gainful job creators and employers of labour even before completion of Bachelors’ Degree.
Speaking at the Opening session of the 2023/2024 EIBIC Orientation Seminar which was held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at the J.F. Ade Ajayi (Main) Auditorium of UNILAG, Akoka, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, assured students of opportunities which would make them excel not only in their chosen disciplines but also in business and entrepreneurship.
Addressing students from the Faculty of Science who converged for Day 1 of the 5-day seminar, Prof Ogunsola who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development Services, Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa said the EIBIC Programme will expose students to real-world concepts through various projects, programmes and internship opportunities.


According to her, EIBIC will also aid team formation across various disciplines, provide platforms for co-creation of different innovations and businesses as well as access to industry players for leverage.
Similarly, in her remarks, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics and Research, Professor Bola Oboh pointed out that the EIBIC Programme will go a long way in addressing unemployment and underemployment while also raising a generation of innovators and owners of viable businesses.
Her words, “UNILAG has established partnerships and collaborations with international organizations and universities beyond the shores of Nigeria all with the aim of further broadening the prospects of participants”.
She implored the students to make the best use of the guidance and mentorship opportunities which the EIBIC programme would offer them while also leveraging on it to chart their course in setting up businesses which would launch them into global fame.


In his presentation, Director of the Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Centre (ESDC), UNILAG, Professor Sunday Adebisi said the EIBIC Programme aims to unlock the potential of students within and outside their disciplines.


Prof. Adebisi said the EIBIC training will expose them to real-time mentorship from industry-players and help them harness their talents, hobbies and interests.
The EIBIC Orientation Seminar for the 2023/2024 Academic Session will run till Tuesday, April 25, 2024 at J.F. Ade. Ajayi (Main) Auditorium, UNILAG, Akoka. The schedule for the EIBIC Seminar which is mandatory for all 100-level students is indicated below:
