The Registrar, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Mrs. Abosede Wickliffe has tasked administrative officers of the University to embody excellence and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

She gave the charge on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, during her first interactive session with Principal Assistant Registrars/Secretaries, Senior Assistant Registrars/Secretaries, Assistant Registrars/Secretaries, Chief Executive Officers, Assistant Chief Executive Officers and Principal Executive Officers I & II of the University.

Speaking at the Senate Chambers of the UNILAG Senate House, venue of the interactive session, Mrs. Wickliffe assured that her tenure would focus on digitalization/ ICT proficiency for staff members, automation of processes as well as capacity building to drive efficiency across the University system.

Being part of her ongoing strategic engagements with the rank and file of the University Registry, Mrs. Wickliffe used the opportunity to explain in details, elements of her mission statement: Promoting Administrative Excellence and Professionalism to the officers in attendance with a view to securing their cooperation and commitment.

She emphasized the indispensability of a professional registry in the running of a university system hence the need for every administrator to embrace dignity, integrity, humility, team spirit and every other value needed to reposition UNILAG Registry for more efficient service delivery.

While harping on the importance of self-improvement for the purpose of personal growth, development and reverence; the registrar urged staff members in the administrative cadre to be solution-oriented and result driven while performing their functions.

She also stressed the need for administrators to be abreast with all rules and regulations of the university just as she cautioned against vices which could sabotage the stake, mandate and expectations of the UNILAG Registry in the Future-Ready Agenda of the Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS led Management.

Remarks, posers, comments and suggestions from the officers in attendance all centered on the need to foster ties across the rank and file, improved staff welfare as well as motivations where necessary so as to boost staff morale thereby engendering a more productive work environment, issues which Mrs. Abosede Wickliffe assured would require the active involvement and participation of all stakeholders.

Mrs. Abosede Wickliffe officially assumed office as the substantive Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council of the University of Lagos on Monday, February 3, 2025.

Her appointment took effect on Saturday, February 1, 2025, in line with the approval issued at the Friday, December 6, 2024 meeting of the UNILAG Governing Council led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN.
