Management of the University of Lagos, on Friday, November 22, 2024, received two teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the accreditation of its Education Management, Guidance and Counseling, Health Education as well as Human Kinetics programmes.
The teams were received at the Vice-Chancellor’s Boardroom by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development Services, Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Management Services, Professor Lucian Obinna-Chukwu, acting Registrar, Mrs. Esther Olakunle Makinde and Director of Academic Planning, Professor Olusoji Ilori.
Professor Mohammed Baba Gambari from Bayero University, Kano, led the NUC team for Health Education and Human Kinetics while Professor Lucy Ugbe from Nasarawa State University led the team for Education Management and Guidance and Counseling.
In their separate remarks, Professors Gambari and Ugbe gave assurances of goodwill of the NUC Executive Secretary; Chris Maiyaki and explained that their assignment was to ensure that the programmes under review are in compliance with the NUC benchmarks.
While acknowledging UNILAG’s record of excellence in most of its academic programmes, the team leads described their assignments as a peer review exercise devoid of witch hunt.
In her remarks, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development Services, Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa, appreciated the teams and National Universities Commission for the confidence reposed in UNILAG.
She assured of management’s avowed commitment towards sustaining the tempo of excellence in raising well rounded graduates who are not only globally compliant but also fit-for-purpose.
The courtesy visit was rounded up with a photography session after which the two (2) teams immediately swung into action.
