Authorities of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have received a three-man delegation of the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the accreditation of its M.Sc. programme in Finance domiciled in the Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS).
They are Professor S. I. Ningi from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi; first female Dean at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUST) Professor Chioma Oleka and Messrs. Bright Osemeke as the NUC representative.

The delegation accompanied by the Director, Academic Planning Unit, Professor Mathew Ilori; Dean, School of Postgraduate School, Professor Abraham Osinubi and Faculty of Management Sciences’ staff including the Dean, Professor Suleiman; was received by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa along with the Acting Registrar, Mrs. Olakunle Makinde.
In his remarks, Professor Ningi emphasized the readiness of the team to ensure a thorough evaluation of the institution’s Finance programme in terms of the required standard as stipulated by the NUC.
His words “We have come to see available facilities and the quality of learning resources as well as staffing at the university’s disposal. I want to state that our visit is to ensure compliance and not to witch-hunt”

The meeting offered an opportunity for him to acknowledge the university’s warm reception since their arrival.

In response, Professor Atsenuwa underscored the importance of the exercise, noting that the institution does not view accreditation as condemnation, but a call to re-double efforts to improve overall learning and teaching of students under the institution’s virile quality assurance process.
