On Thursday, 1st of April 2021, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS received in attendance the delegation of ISN Products Nigeria Limited, one of Nigeria’s leading suppliers of Medical Diagnostic Products and Services, at the Senate House.
The company was at the University to donate medical items as well as to officially introduce Mr. Biola Fashina, winner of the Lab Scientist of the Year Award organized by the company.
During the visit, General Manager of the firm Mrs. Ifeyinwa Chioke disclosed that the award was instituted as part of the company’s contribution towards encouraging and promoting excellence amongst Medical Laboratory Scientists in Nigeria. She described Medical Laboratory Scientists as a vital component of the Medical practice stressing that they play a very key role in healthcare service delivery and are well-deserving of honour and recognition like their other counterparts in the medical sector.
She remarked that her company has been an integral support system for the country’s healthcare sector and has continued to provide healthcare practitioners and patients peace of mind through top class innovative medical diagnostic solutions.
She disclosed that Mr. Fashina came out top amongst the array of competitive participants across the country and received a cash prize of N1 million, a capacity development training, and thus paved way for the donation of medical lab equipment/reagents valued at N1 million to the laboratory or hospital where he is working.
Mr. Fashina became the first ever winner of the competition which held last year on Friday, November 27, 2020, at Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS, who was ably represented by the Director of Academic Planning Unit, Professor Obinna Lucien Chukwu appreciated the gesture while he acknowledged the contributions of the company especially in the healthcare sector. He said the success recorded by the Mr. Biola Fashina, staff of the University Laboratory as the best Lab Scientist of the Year is further proof of the institution contribution in improving the scope of healthcare all round.
The event was well attended by senior members of the Medical centre that included the Director of Medical Service, Dr. (Mrs) Yinka Coker.
