The Quality Assurance and SERVICOM (QAS) Unit of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), on Thursday, March 27, 2025, held its debut quarterly seminar/workshop for QAS officers across the University.
The hybrid seminar which was held at the Senate Chamber (2nd Floor) of the UNILAG Senate House, featured a keynote presentation and two (2) technical sessions.
The first technical session anchored by Director, Academic Planning Unit, Professor Matthew Ilori focused on Roles and Responsibilities of Quality Assurance Officers in Implementing the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS) while the second session anchored by Director, Central Research Laboratory, Professor Luqman Adams was dedicated to Framework and Documentation for Quality Assurance Processes in the University of Lagos.


The keynote presentation titled The Role of Quality Assurance in Enhancing Institutional Excellence, was remotely delivered by the Assistant Director/Team Leader C, SERVICOM Office, Presidency Abuja, Mrs. Kikelomo Aina.
She emphasized the indispensability of Quality Assurance in achieving institutional excellence, and stressed the importance of institutional commitment, strong feedback mechanism as well as investment in capacity building and technology as non-negotiable factors for institutional excellence.
Earlier in his remarks, the Director of Quality Assurance and SERVICOM (QAS), UNILAG, Professor Olufemi Saibu revealed that the event was initiated to deepen the understanding of quality assurance principles and practices; enhance competence in service delivery and customer satisfaction as well as institutionalize best practices across all facets of quality assurance within UNILAG.


While appreciating the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, for her commitment to ensuring all round excellence in service delivery in UNILAG, Prof. Saibu expressed optimism that the platform will, among other benefits, bolster capacities, refresh the knowledge base and inspire every service provider in the University to uphold the highest standards of excellence while discharging their duties.
