Management of the University of Lagos says it remains resolute in its capacity building drive among both teaching and non-teaching staff.
Speaking on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at the Centre for Information and Technology System (CITS), venue of the TETFund ICDL training for selected Non-Academic Staff of the university, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS, said the university management places high premium on optimal performance of its workforce describing it as the cornerstone of the university’s success stories, commendations, awards and improved ratings.
In his remarks to mark the formal flag-off of the weeklong training, Prof. Ogundipe who was represented by the Director, Academic Planning Unit, Professor Mopelola A. Olusakin, used the avenue to again commend the rank and file of the university’s workforce as well as appreciate their favourable dispositions, intelligent discretions and their quality of expertise, factors which the she averred, makes UNILAG a pacesetter among the comity of ivory towers in Nigeria and Africa.
The TETFund sponsored International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) training, according to the Director, Centre for Information and Technology System (CITS), Dr. Florence Oladeji, covers the basic module syllabus for the 35 participants who were drawn from different offices and faculties of the university.
Speaking on behalf of the facilitators, Dr Oladeji said the weeklong exercise which commenced on Monday, October 25 and ends on Friday, October 29, 2021, will see participants being trained in basic essentials of computers with the aim of ensuring that they understand the key concepts of ICT, computers, devices and software.
On ground to monitor the execution of the training and tests was a Monitoring Team comprised of TETFund officials. The exercise will be wrapped up with a test after which successful participants will be awarded certificates.
The training continues next week with the intermediate module of the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) training for about 60 participants out of which 45 are teaching staff and 15 being staff members of the Centre for Information and Technology System (CITS).
The International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) is a computer skills certification programme which has presence in over 100 countries with its headquarters in Rwanda.
