UNILAG, JOBBERMAN SIGNS MOU ON SKILL ACQUISITION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The University of Lagos has signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Nigeria’s number one on-line jobs platform, Jobberman to explore a new technological partnership that will benefit our students.

The partnership intends to focus on components such as youth development
along with offering online career advice, personalised HR solutions for undergraduates.

The Communication Head, Jobberman, Sheila Ojei expressed delight at the opportunity to partner with the University on job creation, skill acquisition and training. She averred that the company connects qualified professionals to their dream jobs and employers to the best talent to help grow their businesses or ideas.  She assured that Jobberman will help to train students within the work ethos of Human Resources as well as create opportunities for students (job seekers) and young professionals with the basic knowledge of improving their competencies.

‘In the frame of the agreement, Jobberman will also contribute its expertise in the production of work ready graduate who most often are not cultured for the normal workplace interaction’ she added.


In her remarks, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development Services), Prof Ayodele Atsenuwa, thanked the company for believing in the UNILAG brand. She said the University seeks to achieve its Entrepreneurship goals by partnering with several organizations for sponsorship of programs that have the capacity to motivate and ignite the latent creativity, entrepreneurial interests as well as develop the relevant business skills in our students

She recounted the story of how the company, Jobberman started while alluding to the sagacity and determination of the founding members which she says should be enough to inspire young professionals who also aim to be at the top. She encouraged the company to come up with modules that can transcend job seeking and job search but training to promote the entrepreneurial spirit and support students to set up profitable business ventures along their chosen professions before graduation.

The Director, Entrepreneurship Skills and Development Centre, Dr. Sunday Adebisi and his deputy, Dr. Ayodele Shittu were among those on hand during the signing of the agreement.
