The Faculty of Law, University of Lagos will host the semifinal and final rounds of the 2nd National Data Protection Moot Court Competition on Thursday, December 14 and Friday, December 15, 2023.
On Thursday, December 14, 2023, the top four (4) universities that made it from the quarterfinals (round of eight) will slug it out at the semi-finals of the Competition, while the best two (2) Universities from the semi-finals will compete for the Masters of the Moot Award at the final round of the Moot Competition on Friday, December 15, 2023.
The finals of the Moot competition will be live-streamed on the University of Lagos YouTube Channel, @UnilagNigeria via https://youtube.com/live/9FFsu6X890A
Prizes include: Masters of the Moot Award, Distinguished Advocate Award, and the Best Memorials Award. First and Second runners-up of the Competition will also smile home with consolatory prizes.
The National Data Protection Moot Court Competition which is supported by Meta is part of efforts by researchers in the UNILAG Faculty of Law to foster a Compliance–Ready Data Protection Environment in Nigeria.
The Competition specifically allows students to increase their knowledge in the principles and practices of Privacy and Data Protection Laws while also testing their understanding of the subject matter.
It also provides a platform for Law students and seasoned professionals/practitioners to interact and engage in knowledge generation and sharing through research and advocacy.
