The Faculty of Law, University of Lagos (UNILAG) is set to host the semifinal and final rounds of the National Data Protection Moot Court Competition 3.0 on Wednesday, April 9 and Thursday, April 10, 2025 respectively.
Participating teams/universities stand a chance to win exciting awards including the Masters of the Moot Award, the Distinguished Advocate Award, and the Best Memorials Award. Prizes will also be presented to the First runner-up and Second runner-up of the Competition.
The National Data Protection Moot Court Competition (Moot Competition), now in its third year, is open to students from all the Faculties of Law in Nigeria. It provides a unique platform and opportunity for young university students and seasoned professionals/practitioners to interact and engage more closely in knowledge generation and sharing through legal writing, research and advocacy.
Through the competition, participants are presented with the opportunity to increase their knowledge of privacy and data protection laws, principles, and practices, as well as test their understanding of the subject matter in an exciting way. The students also test their advocacy skills before eminent panels of experts and practitioners who serve as judges.
The Moot Competition, which is supported by Meta, is part of the project by researchers from the Faculty of Law, UNILAG to strengthen compliance – ready data protection environment in Nigeria.
