Friday, March 24, 2023 was Day 2 of the UNILAG Environmental Sustainability Challenge & Recycling Bazar.

At the Foyer of the J.F. Ade-Ajayi Auditorium, many students and would-be participants in the Challenge were introduced to the opportunities available in the Circular Economy and Environmental Sustainability fields.

Mr. Dozie Igweilo of QuadLoop

Many players in the industry were on ground to share their experiences with the audience. The first was Mr. Dozie Igweilo, the Founder/CEO of QuadLoop, a clean tech company that leverages electronic waste (e-waste) to develop solar lantern and solar home systems. He shared his sojourn in the business of recycling, his challenges, and gains. Thereafter, he offered remote internship opportunities with the company to willing participants.

Mr. Abiodun Matthews of Rightedge M.REI

Next was Mr. Abiodun Matthews, the Founder of Rightedge M.REI, which is a company that produces eco-friendly cement. As against the dominant brands of cement made majorly from limestone with considerable carbon footprints, Mr. Matthews says that the cement his company produces is acid and water-resistant.

Ms. Cassandra Igweilo of ResinbyKas; Mrs Joy Shittu Igbodike of JaeBee Furniture; Mr. Uginna Nwapulame and Ms. Mary Ephraim of GIVO Africa; Mr. Amidu Daban of PlastiBuild Creative Solutions; and Ms. Aso Nneoma of MitiMeth were all present to share their experiences, showcase their products, and offer empowerment opportunities to students who are desirous of playing in the Sustainable Development field.
