The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has been honoured with a Certificate of Recognition by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for its outstanding commitment to advancing inclusive higher education in Nigeria.
The award was presented during the National Engagement on Inclusive Higher Education and Artificial Intelligence, held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Idris Abdulkadir Auditorium, National Universities Commission (NUC), Maitama, Abuja.
UNILAG received the recognition in acknowledgment of its exceptional efforts to expand equitable access to higher education for persons with visual impairment. The University emerged as one of the institutions with the highest admission of visually impaired candidates in the country, reflecting its sustained commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible, and supportive learning environment.
The recognition underscores the University’s dedication to ensuring that every qualified candidate, regardless of physical ability, has access to quality higher education. It also highlights the University’s leadership in promoting policies and initiatives that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion within Nigeria’s higher education sector.

Reacting to the award, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, expressed appreciation to the University Management, staff, and all stakeholders whose dedication and collective efforts made the achievement possible.
