UNILAG Consult Begins Registration for Universal Treatment Curriculum for Substance Use Disorder

University of Lagos Consultancy Services Limited (UNILAG Consult Ltd) in collaboration with Sound Mind Initiative and Colombo Plan-Drug Advisory Programme has commenced registration for a 12-month Universal Treatment Curriculum for Substance Use Disorder.

Registration for the course will close on Monday, April 14, 2025 and classes are scheduled to start on Saturday, May 3, 2025.

TRAINING DESIGN: The eight curricula and their modules in this training series are designed for 6 months theory and two months practical/ guided internships. Specific agenda will be provided for each curriculum with trainer-led presentations and discussions, frequent use of creative learner-directed activities, small-group and partner to-partner exercises and presentations, reflective writing exercises, periodic reviews to enhance learning retention, and learning assessment exercises.

FOR WHOM: Mental Health Practitioners, Medical Students, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Social Workers & Psychology students, NDLEA, Officers in correctional/ Rehabilitation Homes, and General Public, with minimum of HND, B.A, B.Sc.

METHODOLOGY: Training, Field Work, Internship with supervisors. The course is implemented in four parts with culminating examinations and certificates. Participants will get:

1. a hard copy of Participant’s Manual upon payment for each curriculum, with more than 300 Pages of material and reference materials (total of 9 manuals).
2. four completion certificates with marks cards. Completion certificates will have the list of topics and modules covered as well as the logo of Colombo Plan and authorized training provider: UNILAG Consult and Sound Mind Initiative.

Please note that participants who complete the course successfully can sit for an international credentialing examination online from the Global Center for Credentialing and Certification (GCCC) and get an International Credential (ICAP- Internationally Certified Addiction Professional), which is approved in all major countries including the West Africa.
