In a bid to reinforce the core values of professionalism, and strong work ethics, the Registrar and Secretary to Council of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Mrs. V. Abosede Wickliffe held a highly engaging session with the institution’s administrative officers on Friday, February 21, 2025.
The meeting brought together Administrative Officers I & II, Senior Executive Officers, Higher Executive Officers, and Executive Officers for an open discussion on their roles and expectations in advancing the University’s mission.




Held at the Senate Chamber, 2nd Floor of Senate House, the event offered a timely opportunity for Mrs. Wickliffe to remind the University’s administrative staff of the critical values that underpin the success of UNILAG: professionalism, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Her message underscored the vital role that each administrative officer plays in ensuring the smooth running of the University.

The Registrar was joined by senior members of the Registry including, the Deputy Registrar of Academic Affairs Directorate, Mr. Micheal Uwakwe; Deputy Registrar of Admissions Unit, Mrs. Taiwo Oloyede ; and Deputy Registrar at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Abolade Akinwunmi. Their presence added depth to the session, as they shared insights on leadership, teamwork, and the collective responsibility of university administrative officers.
Mrs. Wickliffe took the opportunity to acknowledge the dedication of staff who, due to lack of junior officers, had to perform duties beyond their designated roles. She commended their hard work, and urged them to continue to excel in their tasks .

The interactive session fostered an environment for open communication, as staff raised questions and received insightful responses.

Key discussions centered around the challenges of balancing multiple responsibilities and the importance of ensuring support systems were in place to prevent staff from feeling overwhelmed.

Throughout the session, Mrs Wickliffe reminded the admin officers of the significance of their actions, stressing that their everyday performance reflected not only the efficiency of their individual departments but also the prestige and reputation of UNILAG as a top-tier academic institution. She encouraged all staff, regardless of their role, to embody the University’s core values and uphold its high standards of service.






The Registrar’s call to action throughout the meeting which began promptly at 10:00 a.m was clear: collective commitment to excellence at UNILAG can only be achieved when all members of staff diligently perform their duties with top-notch professionalism,, and full sense of responsibility.
