The Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, has reiterated the commitment of the university management towards ensuring that staff members attain self-actualization through skill development.
Prof. Ogunsola stated this on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the closing ceremony of the Skills Acquisition Training Programme for Administrative Staff of the University (First Batch), which was held at the UNILAG/BOI Incubation Hub.


While congratulating the participants on the successful completion of their training, the Vice-Chancellor stressed the need for salary earners to think outside of the box by identifying and growing capacities that could fetch them additional income as a pathway to financial independence. She described the training exercise as part of efforts to inspire participants, unveil their potentials and expose them to business opportunities.
The University helmswoman reassured of management’s commitment towards assisting staff members to build soft skills and other capacities required to provide profitable services beyond their career in UNILAG.
Earlier in his remarks, the Director, Entrepreneurship and Skills Development (ESDC), University of Lagos, Professor Sunday Adebisi congratulated the participants for being pioneers of the training programme. He implored them to see their training exercise as a testament to the university management’s genuine interest in their all-round well-being.


The debut Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Training for UNILAG staff members, according to the Co-ordinator, Dr. Atinuke Lano-Maduagu, had a total of 50 participants who were trained in 4 (four) key areas: Production of Household Chemicals, Food and Confectioneries, Up-cycling as well as Textile and Design.








The training exercise lasted 3 months and the participants had a pitch session during which they displayed their products to the admiration of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS.
