Professor Mary Odukoya of the Department of Geosciences at the University of Lagos has won a research grant awarded by the Open Funding Programme of the State Key Laboratory of Environmental Geochemistry (SKLEG), Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Science (Grant No. SKLEG2024211).
With the grant, she will be conducting the research in collaboration with Prof. Li Ping of SKLEG on: “Assessing the Environmental Impact, Sources and Human Health Risks of Heavy Metals from Artisanal Mining Operations in Nigerian Karst Landscapes”.
Prof. Odukoya will also deliver a special research seminar at the Chinese Academy of Science as follows:
Topic: “Assessment of Contamination, Health Risk and Bio-accessibility of Potentially Toxic Elements (PTEs) in the Soil of Artisanal Gold Mine and Processing Sites, Minna, North Central Nigeria”
