ULWS Market Fair Offers UNILAG Community Essential Commodities at Discounted Rates

The 2023 Market Fair (Ileya Edition) of the University of Lagos Women’s Society (ULWS) commenced on Monday, June 26, 2023 at the ULWS Car Park, UNILAG, Akoka.

The ULWS President, Dr. Taiwo F. Ipaye, FNIM in her opening remarks, appreciated and commended the vision of the Immediate Past President of ULWS, Mrs Oluwaseun Ogundipe, who initiated the market fair in 2021, in a bid to bring commodities to members of the University community at a reduced rate. She also expressed gratitude to the current Vice Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, for her unflinching support to ensure the continuation of the program.

Dr. Ipaye appealed to members of the University Community to take advantage of discounted prices of quality items ranging from pepper, tomatoes, live chicken, meat, vegetables, palm-oil, smoked fish, clothes (male, female, young, and old), toys, jewelries, among others.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Professor Ayodele Victoria Atsenuwa, who represented the Vice-Chancellor applauded the committee members of ULWS for the sustainability of the event. She assured that the University Management would continually support an amazing event that is aimed at making the University Community enjoy a stress-free market shopping but more importantly getting those items at a discounted rate.

The Chairperson, Market Day Committee, Mrs. Ebi Rachael Obigha, eulogized the ULWS President for giving her and the entire committee the opportunity to serve. According to her, “the market is being organized to reduce the stress on members of the University Community who are busy with schedules in their offices. It is not a profit-making venture for the ULWS, rather its motive is to bring popular markets like Oyingbo, Mile 12, Yaba, Ketu, Mushin, and Bariga to UNILAG.

The market will continue on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, from 8:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. Members of the university and public are encouraged to patronise the market.
