The University of Lagos (UNILAG) issues this statement to clarify the course registration process for the Second Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Session and to address concerns regarding alleged inadequate opportunities for registration.
Previous Registration Opportunities
The University provided multiple opportunities for eligible students to complete their Second Semester course registration. The student portal was opened on four separate occasions between March and June 2026, as outlined below:
- Initial Registration Period: Saturday,  March 14 – Sunday, April 12, 2026. https://unilag.edu.ng/approved-academic-calendar-for-1st-and-2nd-semesters-2025-2026-academic-session/
- Extensions to the Registration Deadline The registration deadline was subsequently extended twice through revisions to the Academic Calendar:
- Additional Registration Windows:Â In recognition of the prevailing economic challenges facing many students and their parents, Management approved two additional opportunities for course registration and course editing through the reopening of the student portal:
Please note the following:
- Adequate notice was given through the University website, social media platforms, WhatsApp channels, and University newsletters to sensitise students before and during each reopening of the registration portal. In addition, hourly reminders were disseminated across various communication channels before and throughout the final registration window.
- As of the close of registration on Sunday, June 21, 2026, a total of 36,391 students had successfully completed their Second Semester course registration.
Current Position
The University has a responsibility to uphold its academic regulations and ensure fairness to all students.
Reopening the registration portal at this stage would disrupt the University’s academic processes, particularly as the Second Semester examinations are scheduled to commence on Friday, August 7, 2026. Accordingly, requests for any further reopening of the registration portal cannot be granted.
The University appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all students and stakeholders.
