A three-man delegation of the National Universities Commission (NUC) has completed a pre-validation exercise of programmes within the Distance Learning Institute.
The three-man team led by Professor Aishatu Mohammed Mubi included an ODL expert, Hajiya Hadiza Ramallan, and a NUC representative, Mr. Mathew Esen.

They were received at the Senate House, UNILAG, on Friday, June 9, 2023, by the University Management team led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development Services, Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON.
The NUC team, after a tour of the Institute, came back impressed with the available facilities, particularly the e-library, library management system, and the quality of learning resources at the Institute’s disposal.

While commending the Director and staff of DLI for ensuring excellent management of programmes and resources, Professor Mubi applauded the university management for its support of the institute. She gave recommendations on areas of possible improvement in the Institute’s academic programmes.
In response, Prof. Atsenuwa appreciated NUC for its support and trust over the years. She reiterated the university’s commitment to promoting access to tertiary education irrespective of distance.





The meeting offered an opportunity for the Deputy Vice-Chancellor to underscore the importance of the pre-validation exercise of the National Universities Commission. She equally assured the team that the grey areas identified would be addressed as part of efforts by the institution to improve the overall learning and teaching of students.
Also present during the visit were Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Management Services, Professor Lucien O. Chukwu, Registrar, Oladejo Azeez, Esq, Bursar, Mrs, Yetunde Adekunle, FCA; Director, Works, and Physical Planning, Engr. Johnson Akinwande, FNSE; Director, Director, Academic Planning Unit; Prof Mathew Ilori; and the Director, Distance Learning Institute, Prof. Uchenna Udeani, amongst others.
