The National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), University of Lagos branch, has elected a new executive council to steer its affairs for the next four years.
A former branch Assistant General Secretary from the Central Research Laboratory at the College of Medicine, Idi-Araba, Mr. Ojobo Peter Douglas has been elected the new NAAT Chairman.
Mr Douglas emerged winner of the poll that was conducted concurrently at both the Akoka and Idi-araba campus on Thursday, 19th August 2021 with over 45% of the required votes as enshrined in the NAAT Constitution.
The immediate past Chairman, Comrade Sulyman led the newly installed executives to the office of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS to formally introduce them.
The Vice Chancellor challenged them to be worthy ambassadors of the union and admonished them to always be steadfast in their quest to seek better ways to improve the welfare of their members. He averred that as a labour or trade group of skilled workers that provide laboratory services, practical teaching, learning and research in tertiary institutions, they can be rest assured of the University’s continued support in ensuring that the union is taken further higher.

Mr. Douglas, who took over the reigns from his predecessor, Comrade Sulyman, assured the Vice Chancellor of his commitment and that of the Executives in ensuring quality service delivery as well as imbibing the spirit of equity and fair play in the administration of the union.
Other members of the Administrative Council of NAAT are the Vice President, Mr. Achem Daniel (Dept of Chemistry); General Secretary, Mr. Adenekan Sunday (Dept of Bio-Chemistry); Assistant General Secretary, Mr Lukman Olaitan (Dept of Computer Science); Treasurer, Mrs. Adeayo Temitayo (Dept of Cell Biology and Genetics); Financial Secretary, Mr. Olowe Johnson Akintunde (Dept of Physiology); and Public Relations Officer, Mr. Jonathan Okpei (Dept of Mechanical Engineering).
