The Confucius Institute, UNILAG, now has a new Chinese Director. He is Professor Zhao from the Beijing Institute of Technology, China.
In the company of the Nigerian Director, Professor Chimdi Maduagwu, the new Chinese Director paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, at his office in the Senate Building today, March 23, 2021.
Professor Zhao expressed delight to be here at the University of Lagos and promised to improve upon the great work that his predecessor, Professor Yongjing Wang, has done at the Institute.
The Vice-Chancellor welcomed Professor Zhao to UNILAG and assured him of his continued support for the Confucius Institute. He took great pride in the very commendable work that graduates of the Institute are doing in the education space, both in the country and overseas, and wished the new Chinese Director a successful time in office.
Professor Zhao is an expert at foreign languages and would serve as Chinese Director of the Confucius Insitute, UNILAG for a renewable tenure of two years. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Liu Riufen.
