The National Association of Nigerian Visually Impaired Students, University of Lagos (NANVIS-UNILAG), cordially invites the University community and general public to its yearly advocacy event tagged: Making A Difference (M.A.D), Breaking Boundaries, and Exceeding Societal Stereotypes, scheduled for Friday, July 12, 2024 at 10.00a.m., at Tayo Aderinokun Lecture Theatre, UNILAG.
Speakers listed for the event include: Dr Festus Oshoba (current, President of Ophthalmologist Society of Nigeria) who will speak on “Ways to Keep Your Sight in Form”; and Prof. Oye Oyewo, SAN (Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Oyo State) who will speak on “Make a Difference”. Other speakers are: Mrs. Akhere Marian Akran (Founder, Agatha Obiageli Aghedo Memorial Foundation) and Dr. S. O. Adeniyi (Department of Educational Foundations, University of Lagos).
M. A. D is an annual event organised by NANVIS-UNILAG to create awareness; provide solutions to lingering problems; generate information for promotion of healthy data, orientate people on giving support to visually impaired or low vision people along with other people with disabilities. The event also aims to educate the public on the importance of having requisite knowledge on management of all forms of disabilities.
NANVIS-UNILAG was established about two decades ago with the aim of bridging the gap between visually impaired students, other members of the University community and general public.
