The Lagos African Cluster Centre (LACC), in collaboration with Universität Bayreuth, Germany; Rhodes University, South Africa; Moi University, Kenya and Université de Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is set to hold a workshop entitled: “African Concept of Development Workshop.

The Workshop, which is a part of a study focused on teasing out what development means to Africans, is scheduled as follows:

Date: Tuesday, November 9 & Wednesday, November 10, 2021
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily
Venue: Arthur Mbanefo Digital Research Centre (AMDRC)

To realise the workshop’s aim of interrogating African contexts and conceptualizations of development, Distinguished Professor Jim Ijenwa Unah of the Department of Philosophy will deliver a keynote address on the topic: “Harnessing African Conceptualizations of Development to Impact Society.” Subsequently, there will be four panels to discuss the topics:

Prof. Eghosa Osaghae and Prof. Patricia Donli will also deliver lectures respectively on the first and second days of the workshop, which promises to be insightful and thought provoking.

LACC is one of the centres under the Africa Multiple, Cluster of Excellence of Universität Bayreuth and is also an autonomous Centre within the Institute of African and Diaspora Studies (IADS), University of Lagos (UNILAG).
