As part of its on-going programme for early career researchers, the IREX-UASP Research Integrity and Ethics & Responsible Conduct of Research (RI&E and RCR) Alumni Grant Team 2022-2023 has begun the physical component of its training on Animal Ethics in Training and Research.
The Opening Ceremony of the event took place on Monday, January 15, 2024, at the Faculty of Science Board Room, University of Lagos (UNILAG), had a number of participants in attendance.
The Principal Investigator for the Project on Entrenching Research Ethics and Integrity Values and Oversight Capacity Building across 2 Nigerian Universities: University of Lagos and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Professor Abidemi Akindele, commended the participants for their enthusiasm and urged them to seize the opportunity the training offered, to be grounded in research.


The Director of Research and Management Office (RMO), UNILAG, Professor Timothy Nubi, who represented the University’s Management at the event, urged the participants to “make the best of the training opportunity, because trainings on research ethics form the foundation for a successful career in research”.
He continued: “The essence of this training is that, as young researchers, you get it right. Funding organisations all over the world who financially support research do not joke with ethical issues. Please take advantage of this so that you will evolve as top-rated researchers who are able to attract funding for research projects, will conceived and successfully delivered”.
Facilitators from the University of Lagos and Obafemi Awolowo University were on ground to take participants through different aspects of the training.
