It has been noticed that some students of the University always request that UNILAG Medical Centre authenticate their medical reports from external hospitals.
These requests are usually granted after strict scrutiny of the reports and intense questioning of the students by the UNILAG Medical Report Committee. The Medical Centre has on several occasions, visited the hospitals to verify the reports.
However, students of the University are hereby informed that the University’s Medical Centre will henceforth strictly enforce the “Policy on Verification of Sick Report from outside Hospitals”.
Under the policy:
1. Students who undergo or receive treatment in an external hospital are required to notify the Director of Medical Centre in writing within seventy-two (72) hours or forfeit endorsement.
2. Students are advised to seek orthodox medical treatment only in recognized registered hospitals (preferably government owned hospitals and not bone setters, religious houses or traditional healers).
3. Failure to comply with 1 & 2 above will mean denial of endorsement of such medical report.
4. Lecturers and other University staff are advised to desist from asking or suggesting to students to present medical reports to cover their absence from school when it is not health related.
