Current members of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) male football team, the Marines missed a chance to get a win over their senior and graduating class as they were pipped by a lone goal inside the main pitch of the University of Lagos Sports Complex on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
In a pulsating friendly encounter witnessed by supporters of the UNILAG Male football team, Coach Babatunde Oluwo tutored side despite their solitary effort via the penalty spot by forward Mubarak Gaffar produced a limp display in their 1-0 win.

On the other hand, the Coach Babatunde Akeem boys would have been guaranteed a chance for an equalizer if they had converted the many chances available to them during the second half of the encounter.
The game witnessed by important dignitaries and die-hard supporters of the teams including Professor Khalid Adebayo gave the supporters at the venue something to cheer.

After the game, the Technical Director of the UNILAG Marines teams, Dr. Macpherson Ogunsemore expressed immense appreciation to the leadership of the University for giving the technical crew another opportunity to have the lads trade tackles.
According to him, “the game between the current and graduating Marines afforded the crew a platform to identify challenges and other areas that need improvement.”
The Team Manager, Dr. Gbenga Ajibola, had earlier announced a 300-level Philosophy student, Oluwaseun Dumila, as the new Captain of UNILAG Marines.
