The maiden edition of Professor Ogundipe Innovative Challenge (POIC), which is an initiative of the Faculty of Science, University of Lagos (UNILAG) will hold on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 9:00a.m. at the Jelili Adebisi Omotola Hall, University of Lagos.
The challenge, which is in its final stage, entails group of young, ingenious Nigerian students coming together with ideas and innovations that could proffer solutions to several human and environmental problems. These students could also improve on existing systems that already address these problems while also using it to advance the course of research in science and technology.
After careful consideration, eleven (11) teams of this challenge have made it to the final stage of this challenge. Now they will present their innovations to top government functionaries, captains of the industry, corporate investors, researchers, students and members of the public. Three of the best will be rewarded with 1 million Naira each.
The Professor Ogundipe Initiative challenge (POIC) will be graced by important dignitaries, some of which are the Executive Governor of Lagos, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde; Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe and other top management and academic staff of the University.
The event which will key into the research blueprints of the University, will challenge students and other young Nigerians to open their minds to ideas that would make them appreciate the basic concepts of different scientific theories that they are exposed to in the classrooms.
