The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has kicked off the Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Business Incubation Certification (EIBIC) 2025 Programme with a seminar which is a mandatory initiative for all 100-level and Direct Entry students (freshers) of the institution.
The 5-day EIBIC 2025 seminar commenced on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at the Jelili Omotola (Multipurpose) Hall of UNILAG with students of Faculty of Science. The seminar is appropriately scheduled to ensure that fresh students of all faculties and the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) get interactive sessions with certified entrepreneurship professionals and teachers.
Speaking at the opening session of the seminar, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Muyiwa Falaiye who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, reiterated the University’s commitment to efforts aimed at equipping every student with entrepreneurial skills, knowledge and mindset to thrive in the ever-evolving world of work and business landscape.


Acknowledging the fast paced evolution ravaging the work and business landscape and the daunting need for individual ability to adapt and innovate; Professor Falaiye assured of the University management’s readiness to leverage on partnerships with leading incubators and accelerators to give willing participants access to mentorship, funding opportunities and resources to nurture their start-up ideas from inception to fruition.


In his presentation, the Director of the Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Centre (ESDC), UNILAG, Professor Sunday Adebisi said the EIBIC Programme aims to harness the hobbies, interests, talents and disciplines of students with a view to making them owners of viable businesses, creators of gainful jobs and employers of labour even before completion of their Bachelors’ Degree.






Against the backdrop of the success stories of various UNILAG alumni who started as student-preneurs within the University, Prof. Adebisi pointed out that “the EIBIC programme isn’t just about the certification but a platform to prepare and position every UNILAG student for the reality of life after tertiary education”.
EIBIC 2025 Seminar holding under the auspices of ESDC-UNILAG, is mandatory for all fresh students of the University. The programme will continue on Thursday, June 26, 2025 with students of the Faculties of Arts and Engineering, and run till Tuesday, July 1, 2025, in line with the schedule provided below:

The EIBIC Curriculum of the University of Lagos aims to provide:
- Entrepreneurial Skills Development: Equip students with practical skills to start and manage their own businesses.
- Innovation and Business Incubation: Foster innovation and entrepreneurship among students, providing access to mentorship, funding opportunities, and resources.
- Job Creation and Employment: Prepare students to become owners of viable businesses, creators of gainful jobs, and employers of labor.
- Access to Mentorship and Funding: Partnerships with leading incubators and accelerators to support start-up ideas.
- Dual Certificate Award: Students will receive EIBIC certificates in addition to their degree certificates upon completion
