Bishop of Lagos West Diocese, Civil Defence/Nigeria Legion and Academic Affairs Directorate pay courtesy call on new Vice-Chancellor

Thursday, November 17, 2022, was an eventful day as more people from within and outside the University paid visits to the new Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola at her office on the 11th floor of the Senate House.

The Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, Anglican Communion, Rt Revd. Dr. James Odedeji, and his entourage paid a visit and prayed for Prof. Ogunsola’s successful and peaceful tenure in office.

The Bishop and his entourage offered extensive prayers to God to grant her a successful and peaceful tenure of office.

Likewise, the Civil Defence team consisting of its Head, Mr. Samuel Ajibade, Mr. Al-Ameen Waliu & Owolele Augustine and Nigerian Legion (UNILAG branch) represented by Lt. Col. Fatai Torofunmi felicitated Prof. Ogunsola. They tabled their challenges concerning payment of honorarium, salaries and manpower before the Vice-Chancellor and wished her a fruitful tenure in office.

The Vice-Chancellor was happy to see them and assured them that their requests would be deliberated upon and handled accordingly.

The Academic Affairs Directorate led by its Acting Director, Mrs. Olakunle Makinde presented her formidable team comprising Mrs. Nneka Ugochukwu of Academic Affairs Office; Mrs. Taiwo Oloyede of Admissions Office, Mr. Kehinde Onakoya of Exams Office, Mrs. Adebimpe Ajelabi of Records Office and Mr. Oluwaseyi Sanya of Senate and Ceremonies Unit to the Vice-Chancellor.

The Vice-Chancellor was thrilled at the visit. She thanked the team and stated that she looked forward to a more technologically-driven and seamless system of operations in the University. She emphasised the need for specialization of administrative staff as well as acquisition of professional and globally-recognized certifications that can be translated into practice, and a review of the staff training policy. She stated that she is open to superior arguments, suggestions, and advice on ways to move the University forward.

Mrs. Makinde assured the Vice-Chancellor that the Academic Affairs Directorate will continue to pursue ways of digitalizing the Directorate’s mode of operations, and wished her a successful and peaceful tenure in office.
